Uva Ursi

Scientific Name: Arctostaphylos uva-ursi

Actions:  Urinary antiseptic, anti-bacterial, astringent, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, tonic, oxytocic, hemostatic, demulcent

Energetics: Drying and cooling

Preparations: Tea, tincture, vinegar

Uses: Edema. Cystitis, soothe and tonify kidneys and bladder. Antiseptic and astringent on urinary tract membranes.

Cautions: Uva-ursi is generally a safe herb but is best taken in moderate doses as too much of it can cause nausea and digestive disturbances. Avoid during pregnancy.
